So at Tuesday’s meeting we discussed….

THIS WEEK’S EVENTS:
CHILDREN’S MOON FESTIVAL:
Although we told you to check schoolloop at 8PM to sign up for shifts for the event, we have been unable to post up shifts for we have not received a response from the event coordinator. So the event is still tentative, but continue checking the website and schoolloop for any word about shifts!

INTERKEY CAR WASH:
Oh yes, the two biggest clubs on campus have joined forces to create the craziest car wash evaaaaaa. It will be Sunday, October 11, 2009, from 9 AM – 3 PM so bring your cars. There will be three shifts: (9AM-11AM; 11AM-1PM; 1PM-3PM). SOO COME. Though shifts are full, don’t be a stranger, and bring a car!

SUNDAY FRIENDS:
Discussed at last week’s meeting, this event is now full!

FUTURE EVENTS:
FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE:
Held on October 18, 2009 (Sunday) this is the event of all events, filled with games, a gazillion people, and area competition. Take pride in Area 8 and come join the fun for the thing all Interact clubs prepare for each year. Check the most recent post for more information. If you have yet to pay your 10 dollar fee for the event, please do so this week, by Friday. Give your money to an officer.

LIGHT THE NIGHT:
OCTOBER 24, 2009. Sign-ups are still going on! AND THE EVENT IS UNLIMITED. AND ITS FOR A GOOD CAUSE. Though the Team Mish shirt money was due today, there is a good chance that they will be sold at the actual event, so bring some cash and get a cute shirt!

The FIVE DOLLAR club donation will be due in 3 weeks on October 27, 2009. These donations go towards your kickin stolls when you graduate peeps! So pay up, buttacup.

ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, FISHING IN THE PARK WILL OCCUR!
For those participating you must arrive at Lake Cunningham at 7AM where you will be given instructions and taught everything you need to learn. By 8, the cute third graders shall arrive, and you will buddy up and give ‘em a great experience, by aiding them in the wonderful ways of fishing. THIS EVENT IS SENIOR PRIORITY. So far five spots have been filled, and five are left, SO SENIORS, SIGN UP! Comment post with your info if you wish to participate.

ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 10, (NO SCHOOL FOLKS), we have a whole slew of events!

YAY FOR COOL EVENTS! SO, though the flyer states the money is going to Wilcox’s Interact Club, ALL PROCEEDS MADE NOVEMBER 10 will go to our international project, HydrAid! SO PLEASE ATTEND AND HELP RAISE MONEY FOR a life-changing cause! ADDITIONALLY, you do not have to be an Interact member to participate! As long as you’re in high school! SO BRING YOUR FRIENDS!

MAN OH MAN! Monday was probably one of the funnest fundraisers I have been to.
It began with “Bouncing for bucks” at 5:00pm and lasted until 10:30. Then there was the “INTERMINGLE” dance at the Santa Clara Teen Center from. Not to mention the Sweet Tomatoes and Yogurt Works fundraisers in between.

BOUNCING FOR BUCKS:
This was our very first event at Sky high, and I’m quite thrilled that it went well.
I got there at 4 and stayed till about 8:30, and I’d say an estimated 150-ish people came to bounce around.
Be sure to look out for this event next year.

INTERMINGLE:
WAS AMAZINGLY FUN.
We made an estimated $1700 with an attendance of over 400 people.
Although it was really crowed, hot, and sweaty, it was still pretty fun.
We even managed to impress key clubbers.

There will be an area 6 and 8 dance coming in January.
It will be BIGGER, COOLER, and more AWESOME.
Cause our area rep doesn’t want to lose to Area 11.

DO YOU HAVE TALENT?
Well Start sending in those video/audio entries now!

We will be holding auditions (for those who don’t have audio or video files already) on Thursday the 20th, Friday the 21st and Monday the 24th. There will be sign ups during the meeting next week in the theater at lunch.

THESE DON’T HAVE TO BE THE FINAL PERFORMANCE.
Just give us a sample of what you can do, and if you’re chosen, you are given until February to practice and perfect everything.

Oh and did I mention that there’s going to be a $100 prize for first place?
We will also be rewarding prizes to both 2nd and 3rd place placers as well.

So here’s what’s going down this week!

WINTER WONDERLAND SET-UP AND CLEAN-UP

date: December 5, 2008

time: SET-UP: IMMEDIATELY AFTER 6TH PERIOD

CLEAN-UP: 7:00 PM

location: Silver Creek High School’s FOOTBALL FIELD

Winter Wonderland, hosted by Class of 2009, and 2011, is a fun filled festival/carnival like event filled with numerous activities like game booths, face painting, balloon-making, bounce houses, arts and crafts, as well as entertainment, food, and our very own SANTA CLAUSE! Swing by after sixth to set-up, stay and enjoy the holiday cheer, and clean up at 7! Stay jolly this year, WALKING IN A WINTER WONDERLAND!

CHRISTMAS GRAMS:

At the meeting, you should’ve received at least one christmas gram slip, if not, please contact a fellow officer. It is mandatory that Interactors sell at least one grams. Tell the buyer that the gram is essentially a cute stuffed-animal of some sort, and it is THREE DOLLARS. When you turn in the slips, don’t forget to put your name on the back, as well as turn in the money. Every extra two you sell accounts for one extra hour.

AREA EIGHT SHIRTS:

Area 8 T-shirts are still on the market! Sizes medium to extra large are still for sale for 15 DOLLARS! If you would like a size small, orders will be coming in shortly. If you would like to reserve them, please contact an officer.

TALENT JAM AUDITIONS:

Talent Jam Auditions will be accepted until December19th! PLEASE PLEASE, if you have a talent, submit a video of some sort to newsletter@interact5170.com

tomorrow! wednesday, January 7, 2009, IMMEDIATELY after 7th period we have CAMPPUUUSSS CLLLEEAANNUPPP. WHOOOT. report to I2 after school to pick up a trash bag. One complete trassh bag= ONE FULL HOUR.

NEXT SATURDAY! INTERACT’S ANNUAL iSKATE will be held. JANUARY 17th, 2009, at Logitech Skating Arena ( Shark’s San Jose Ice) we will congregate with other Interactors from area 6-13 and skate! TWO HOURS OF SKAATING FUN WILL GIVE YOU TWO COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS. It will be held from 7:30 PM – 9:30 PM! Bring $8 for skates and $3.75 for admission. By attending you will be aiding in supporting providing clean water to all.

As for the dance mentioned in the agenda, it has been postponed until April, due to some booking dilemmas. So keep your ears and eyes out for that!

Don’t forget to submit your auditions for Interact Talent Jam! It’s the last call! FORREAL this time.

Why, it’s been a while, hasn’t it?

I know I haven’t updated this blog in a while, and I apologize. I’ve completely ignored it. I’M SORRY! FORGIVE ME. BUT I promise, this time I’ll be more strict on this thing. I’m just so jumble-minded and busy with a zillion things in my head, but that is no excuse. SO INTERACT, this is my vow to thee to update.

So there are no events this week. :[

I know your heart is in despair over the fact that you cannot perform your kind act of community service this week.

But don't you fear! April 4, 2009 will bring a new event. Just you wait and see.

And just a heads up. APRIL WILL BE FILLED AND FILLED WITH EVENTS. SO drink your community service juice and getcho game on.

Pre-sale for admission will be $35 and ends April 5, 2009. After that prices will increase to $45. SO BUY IT SOON. Before the great deal ends! NEW YEAR 2009-2010

WELCOME TO THE NEW INTERACT SCHOOL YEAR.

IT WILL BE BIGGER, AND BETTER, AND EVERYTHING YOU’RE LOOKING FOR IN A CLUB. FUN? YOU BET. EXCITING? NO KIDDING. HELPING THE WORLD? HECK YEAH.

To start our cranking year our first event will be tomorrow at CALIFORNIA’S GREAT AMERICA, where we will be helping with the FORREST RUN. Cause you know, Interact loves runners.

OUR FIRST MEETING WILL BE TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22, 2009 in the theatre. COME AND LEARN OF INTERACT’S GREATNESS AND EPICNESS. The most populated club on campus for the millionth year in the row? YOU FREAKING BET ON IT. COME AND JOIN THE FUN FELLOW PEOPLE OF SILVER CREEK. Otherwise, you’ll be missing out on the best there ever was.

UPDATE FOR FIRST MEETING

Hola Interactors!

Today was our first meeting! Where you were introduced to all the officers, (except me, My-Linh! I was on at a somewhat field trip) and our profiles can be found on the officers page ( to the right —->), filled out spiffy member information sheets, and rules and regulations were discussed (which can also be found on the Hours page!) AS WELL, you found out that there are TWO crackin’ events this saturday, so let’s get right to it!

THIS SATURDAY, the first event is the Spirit of Japantown Festival, where you will help set up for the festival downtown! LIMITED To 30 people! It will take place on the corner of 5th and Jackson Street, and you will work from 7-11 AM. Those signed up must check in at the volunteer booth upon their arrival. AND THEN AN HOUR LATER IS….

INTERACT BONDING DAY. YEE YEE, GET IT GET IT. IT WILL BE AT FOWLER PARK, on Cortona Road and Michelangelo, from 12-3 PM. There will be scrumptious food provided and millions of games. Those attending will be divided into teams, and winning teams get free t-shirts. YEAH. FREE WARDROBE. COME BOND WITH THE BEST CLUB EVAA. EVENT IS UNLIMITED.

UPDATE FOR MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 29

HOLA INTERACTORS.

So today at the meeting, we discussed a zillion new events for you guys so here’s a basic play-by-play, yadigg?

THIS WEEKEND:

On Saturday, October 3, 2009, we will be having the one and only, DAY IN THE PARK! At Lake Cunningham. It’s a multicultural festival intended to weave together the wonderful cultures of the Santa Clara Valley. AND, FREE FOOD. GET AT IT. There will be three shifts:
Set-Up: 7AM – 11AM
Event: 11AM – 3PM
Post-Event: 3PM – 7PM
Officers Tammy and Brian will be in charge for the first two shifts, and me, (My-Linh) and Johanna will be rocking the third! 30 Spots for each shift! Hit it up at schoolloop!

ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2009, IS OUR BELOVED ROCK AND ROLL HALF MARATHON, an event we have been taking on several years. We will be cheering on and handing out water to runners downtown! Handing out water may not sound fun, but every year this is one of THE best events. 80 Spots for this event, and as of right now… they are filled. But look out for openings, people love to make other plans sometimes.
5 AM – 10 AM, Jackson and Fifth Avenue, Downtown San Jose.

Unfortunately there was only 7 spots on this event, and they were quickly taken. At this event, volunteers will perform educational activities while their parents scavenge about at the event.

FALL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE, OCTOBER 18, 2009.
Event Status: Unlimited.
THIS EVENT IS THE PRIDE AND GLORY OF INTERACT. Here all the other Areas of Interact in the Bay Area join together and share their love for interact. Here our International Project will be revealed, in other words, the organization we will be raising money for this year, there will be an EPIC battle of the Areas, (we’re Area 8, TITANIUM TIGERS, by the way), and a series of cool workshops and games. There will be a $10 fee for attendees, but it pays for FOOD! It will take place at SAN JOSE CITY COLLEGE, from around 8AM – 3PM.

LIGHT THE NIGHT, OCTOBER 24, 2009.
Event Status: Unlimited.
Come walk for a cure! This is the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s annual event in which people walk and pledge to raise funds to finding a cure to cancer. It is an extremely meaningful and fun event, filled with face-painting, balloon animals, exercise, and balloons that light up in the night!
